Jon provides really high level instruction, he is technical and precise. I am a big fan of his lesson structure which is usually a few techniques shown, some positional sparring and then open rolls, the same approach taken by all the best gyms in the world. The gym is clean and everyone is very welcoming. I highly recommend Kaizen bjj to anyone visiting or living in Chiang Mai. Thank you Jon and Yaya! Danny

We are a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy conveniently located on the 2nd Floor of the lively Ruamchok Mall.

There is ample parking, dining, entertainment and shopping options as well as a fitness gym just above us.

Trial Classes

For residents of Chiang Mai, we offer a 1 week free trial. Please message us in advance to book.

Approach

We attempt to practice Jiu Jitsu in accordance with the principle of Kaizen, continuous incremental improvement everyday.

We tend to focus on modern no-gi submission grappling techniques, strongly influenced by the techniques, training methods and philosophies of John Danaher.

Classes begin with technical instruction where we focus on a single subject for multiple days, followed by relevant position sparring, and then free rolling.

Instructor

Coach Jon is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt and has been training under Team Carvalho Thailand since 2015.

Previously, he's taught jiu jitsu at Team Quest Thailand, Chiang Mai University and Gato Studio.

He has also worked as a MMA Judge and Referee for various Asian promotions including One Championship, One Hero Series, One Warrior Series, MIMMA, Full Metal Dojo, and ONE Shin Cup.
